That seems the way it will always go. People don’t choose the right hard path we would rather have something that tastes like the real thing rather than the real thing itself. This is nothing really new the players are the same but it is the same old game still.
I couldn’t agree more. Just because we have the technology to do things like genetically modify fish, that doesn’t mean we should. However, I can see how people see this as a better alternative to fishing wild salmon to extinction.
I agree with what you’ve said. There needs to be more oversight over these programs, in order to protect a places natural ecology. Even though this story is nothing new we should learn from our past mistakes, so they won’t occur again. There has been enough damage to natural habitats around the globe, so if we need to farm fish in order not to over fish a certain species then lets do it with care and intelligently.
It’s sad that we have to mostly rely on farmed fish, but I dread what would happen without it. I am not saying that we shouldn’t address the issues that farming fish raise, the alternative however is over fishing and the threat of extinction because of it. Farmed raised has a long way to go, but it’s better than not having that wild caught salmon every so often.
