Global Fish Stocks
I would put the global fish stocks at a 6 out of 10. We have overfished many populations of wild fish, causing whole fisheries to collapse, but the introduction to farmed fish, hatcheries, and other spawning methods, have boosted fish populations around the world. The sheer size of the ocean has still allowed us to continue harvesting more and more, even if that means there will be many population problems in the future. Pollution, Global warming, and other anthropogenic environmental problems all affect the fisheries in a negative way. Even if we don’t see great problems with fish stocks in the present, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a serious issue with ocean conservative and regulation to protect our fish populations for the future.
